My Three Favorite Moisturizers For Fall Weather
Moisturizing has been a HUGE part of my daily routine since I was young because my skin is crazy dry. It’s taken me years to figure out how to care for my skin in a way that keeps it healthy and consistently plush. I stumbled onto a routine (that honestly costs a little more than I want to spend) that has a few parts to it.
I don’t mind shelling out some extra cash for the products I need because I know I’d be spending just as much to test products that probably won’t work for me. I also consider moisturizers a necessity because my dry skin can be SO gross and peel-y for weeks and make me look unhealthy and feel low. I alternate products every few uses because my skin seems to do better with a variety of different moisturizers constantly working.
My biggest piece of advice when using a moisturizer is to prime your skin with an essence. My favorite is this essence from Laneige. It helps the moisturizer sink deeper in the skin and gives a little extra kick of hydration. It has been life changing for the ways my moisturizers work and for how long they stay in my skin.
These are the products I use religiously.
Glossier Priming Moisturizer Rich
This one is great because it’s a makeup primer before anything else, so it helps your makeup stay on all day while keeping you looking glossy (as is the point of Glossier.) I like to use this moisturizer in the morning so I get the added benefit of the makeup primer, but I also use it before bed. It’s got a really soothing eucalyptus scent which makes it perfect for a nighttime routine.
You can try Priming Moisturizer Rich, or the regular version, for a discount here.
Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Creme
This is definitely my splurge beauty product, but it does wonders for my skin. The formula is thick but easily spreadable, and helps me feel properly moisturized immediately after using. It’s great for everyday wear or an extra kick of moisture when needed,
Scratch Goods Heavy Face Oil
This Chicago local product is a new addition to my beauty cabinet, and it’s helping me prep my skin for the cooler weather. When the seasons change, my skin dries out so quickly, especially now that I’m taking the dog out in the wind all the time. I’ve started using the face oil before bed. I only use a little bit or my face feels too oily, but with just a few drops, it helps me hydrate even more overnight. The face oil is a quick way for a moisture injection that will stay with you for 24 hours.
